Cat Spring Cemetery

The Cat Spring Cemetery (also known as the Kollatschny Cemetery) is located at 7552 Cat Spring Cemetery Road, Cat Spring, Texas 78933. The Kollatschnys were some of the early caretakers of the cemetery and the name Kollatschny Cemetery appears on many older funeral notices and death certificates, but its official name today is the Cat Spring Cemetery.

The cemetery property was originally owned by Rev. Ernest (Josef Arnost) Bergmann, a Czech pioneer and early settler to Cat Spring. Rev. Bergmann arrived in Cat Spring in March 1850 where he was hired as a schoolteacher and preacher for Germans in the area. According to The Saga of Ernest Bergmann published in 1981, it is believed that a log cabin used as a school and church stood at the front part of the Cat Spring Cemetery just west of where the two large pine trees stand.
